Extraction & Ventilation

Why is kitchen extraction so important?

Extraction is often underestimated.

It is not just about removing cooking smells. Good extraction helps manage steam, grease, moisture and condensation.

This is especially important in open-plan homes, where the kitchen is connected to the living and dining space.

Poor extraction can leave smells lingering, make surfaces greasy and create an uncomfortable cooking environment.

What type of extractor is best?

The best extractor depends on the layout of the kitchen.

Options may include:

  • wall-mounted extraction
  • integrated extraction
  • island extraction
  • downdraft extraction
  • venting hobs
  • quiet specialist extraction systems

In open-plan kitchens, noise matters as much as performance. An extractor that is too loud can disturb conversation and make the room less pleasant to use.

Extraction should be planned early, not added as an afterthought.
